Give thanks for live music! Please join us November 18th at Café Zing for Songwriters in the Round. People need people, and people sharing music is one of the best ways we can connect with each other. There won’t be turkey and stuffing, but the café recently got its beer and wine license, so there will be plenty of cheer.
Pace Jay has a New England/Country twang that he displays at local venues such as the Cantab Lounge. Check out the Dolly Parton tribute he released last month. Luke Curran is fresh off his tremendous showing on TV, on NBC’s The Voice this fall. You’ll have to watch the show to see if he won, but meanwhile see his instagram page for clips of him with Maroon 5’s Adam Levine and country superstar Riley Green. Britt Connors is fresh off a series of shows in Maynard, Massachusetts (which she calls “the Paris of MetroWest”). And your host, David Thorne Scott will be on hand to tickle the ivories and belt out his jazz and rock influenced songs.
Where: The show will be held “after hours” at the new and improved Café Zing in Porter Square.
When: 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. (the café will be closed for cleaning and staff turnover from 7:00 - 7:30)
They will have all their amazing teas and coffees (and decafs!) in addition to their Iggy’s sandwiches and their legendary Vietnamese rolls. They have a beer and wine license now!

Songwriters in the Round
Wednesday November 18, 7:30pm-9:00pm
Café Zing
Porter Square Shopping Center
25 White St, Cambridge, MA 02140

free (but you may wish to donate $10-$20 for the performers)
Songwriters in the Round is a warm, welcoming event where people can enjoy food and drink as well as chance meetings and conversation. But everyone becomes quiet when four songwriters take the stage to take turns playing songs, occasionally joining each other on harmony vocals or guitar licks. In between songs, the audience listens while the performers discuss music and life in general. “I was inspired by the ‘guitar pulls’ of the Bluebird Café in Nashville,” host David Thorne Scott says, “but with a wider variety. There is folk and country, but also rock, R&B, soul, jazz, and musical theater.”
Held on the first and third Wednesdays of each month.
We perform at different venues — don’t miss out! Sign up for the email list at http://eepurl.com/c2gNWf for the latest communication.
You might hear a young up-and-coming pro, an established mid-career performer and mentor, and a cherished elder of the scene -- all sharing music. The growing relationships will warm your heart and enrich your soul. Come every week as the lineup shifts and new friends are made.
All ages welcome.
Our songwriters this week
Luke Curran is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist carving out a distinct space in the Boston Americana scene. Blending his upbringing singing campfire harmonies in Northern Michigan and picking on back porches along Florida’s Gulf Coast, Curran crafts songs that feel like old memories. Curran's musical style has been compared to that of acts like Jason Isbell and Tyler Childers.
Following his debut EP Hymns (2025), Curran has earned praise for his dynamic musicianship and lived-in lyrical style. Curran’s performances combine acoustic picking tradition with alt-country twang and folk storytelling that resonates with an authenticity that has quickly made him one of New England’s most compelling new voices in Americana and earned him a nomination for New Act of the Year at the 2026 New England Music Awards.
In 2026, Curran began to make national waves in the folk and country world after competing on Season 30 of NBC’s The Voice, with fans praising his unique soulful “storyteller” vocal style. One viewer commented, “He has the type of voice that makes you pause as you’re going through music and listen”. https://lukecurranmusic.com
Pace Jay - a Somerville-based singer songwriter - writes songs about the small and simple things that make life beautiful, bearable, and everything in between. With the simplicity of ‘three-chords and the truth’, his foresty folk melodies invoke a longing for grey winters and green summers: a New England nostalgia. So come dig your roots in and have a listen! https://www.instagram.com/pacejaymusic
Britt Connors grew up surrounded by music of all kinds: the folk, rock, and jazz of her parents, the classical of her grandparents, and the pop of 80’s and 90’s radio. As such, the music she writes and plays is as eclectic as her background. After graduating from Ithaca College with a degree in vocal performance and teaching voice lessons for a year, she moved to Somerville, MA with the sole purpose of learning guitar, crafting her first songs, and finding her place in the Boston music scene. She slips nimbly and authentically between soulful ballads, pop-rock, and gospel-infused Americana. Her fourth work, a 6-song EP called “Exhale” reflects her influences, from Bonnie Raitt to Deb Talan and from Aimee Mann to Jason Isbell. When she’s not playing and singing, Britt can be found teaching Pilates in the restored carriage house she shares in Concord, MA with Mike and Ringo the Wonder-Cat. https://brittconnors.com/
Your host, David Thorne Scott, is a singer and songwriter in jazz and Americana styles. A longtime resident of Somerville, he organized Songwriters in the Round to foster a creative, dynamic music scene here. He believes that music can bring a community together like nothing else. “At a time of great conflict in our country – when words often fail us – music has the power to bridge divides... David Thorne Scott explores the intersection of Jazz and Americana, city and country, instrumentation and lyrics to create lush compositions and covers that are unifying, and healing, in their beauty.” - Laurie Fanell, Eponymous Review www.davidthornescott.com
